Project idea

The architectural idea is based on creating a calm environment for elderly residents with special needs, using courtyard-oriented buildings that provide collective qualities fostering a sense of community and safety.

Project description

The project is a special regime care home located in Prague 5, situated between Plzeňská and Schwarzenberská streets. The design consists of three wings arranged to create intimate courtyard spaces. The building uses a dynamic facade system with vertical wooden lamellas that provide both solar shading and visual interest. The complex is organized around shared courtyards that serve as communal gathering spaces for residents, offering a connection to nature within an urban setting. The building is designed with 4 above-ground floors, with residential rooms featuring en-suite bathrooms of approximately 4.2 square meters within double-occupancy rooms of around 24.6 square meters.

Technical information

The building comprises 1st to 4th floors (1.NP to 4.NP) with clearly organized floor plans. The facade system employs vertical wooden lamellas creating a layered architectural expression. The documentation includes floor plans, a section (Řez A01), south elevation (Pohled jižní), site plan (Situace), and broader context plan (Situace širších vztahů). The room legend details various functional spaces across the floors including residential rooms, common areas, and service spaces.
