Project idea

The main idea is to create a usable public space in Veltrusy. The existing buildings are complemented with new structures and a central square, forming a community center with administrative, commercial, and cultural functions integrated into the historical context of the town.

Project description

The project is a community center (Komunitní centrum) in Veltrusy. The concept builds upon the existing historical block structure of the town. Each new building is designed as a standalone entity yet together they form a coherent urban composition connected by shared public spaces. The complex includes multifunctional spaces, commercial premises, administrative facilities, a café, and residential units. The layout is organized so that all public functions face the central square while quieter functions are oriented towards the garden areas. The material palette references local building traditions with plastered walls and pitched roofs.

Technical information

The project includes detailed floor plans at 1:200 scale, sections, elevations, and construction details. The structural system uses masonry construction with reinforced concrete elements. The material solution features lime plaster facades, wooden window frames, and traditional pitched roof forms. Floor plans show the disposition of spaces across multiple levels including ground floor commercial/public spaces and upper floor residential/office areas. The construction detail shows wall composition with thermal insulation and facade finishing layers.
