Conversion of a historical glass production facility into a contemporary museum of glass, celebrating the heritage and craft of Czech glass-making while introducing a new cultural destination.
The project transforms a former industrial glassworks complex into a museum dedicated to glass art and production. The exhibition concept guides visitors through the history of glass from raw materials and furnaces to molds, products, and new life applications. The design respects the existing industrial character, restoring the silhouette of the original buildings while introducing carefully designed new additions. The site plan preserves the spatial relationships of the historical complex, including the iconic chimney as a landmark. The interior spaces feature exhibition halls with natural lighting through restored roof structures, creating atmospheric environments for displaying glass works. Materials include stainless steel, BROKIS glass panels, and BROKIS glass terrazzo flooring, connecting the building's materiality to the museum's subject matter.
The building consists of one floor with sections A-A, B-B and C-C showing the internal spatial relationships. New material cladding includes stainless steel metal panels and Brokis glass panels on pivoting door. Elevations are provided showing the building's relationship to existing structures on site.
