A stadium design in Mladá Boleslav inspired by the honeycomb structure of a beehive, using hexagonal modular panels as the primary architectural and structural element for the stadium's facade and roof.
The project proposes a stadium with a distinctive honeycomb-inspired envelope system. The hexagonal panels (plástve/honeycombs) are composed of ETFE foil and travertine or similar stone-like material, creating a golden-toned facade. The modular system allows for a flowing, organic form that wraps around the stadium structure. The design integrates steel structural frames with branching tree-like columns that support the honeycomb cladding panels. The panels are connected via a system of steel joints, ball pins, and connecting strips that allow for articulated placement and varying angles across the curved surface.
The structural system consists of steel tube framework with branching column supports. Hexagonal panels are connected using ball-and-socket joints (kulový čep) and steel connecting elements. The panels feature ETFE foil layers with connecting strips (spojovací lišty). The steel field frame (rám ocelového pole) uses welded tubular connections. Detail drawings show panel-to-panel connections, tube joint details at 1:10 scale, foundation details, and the articulated hinge placement system for the honeycomb panels. The roof structure combines the hexagonal cladding with a lightweight steel framework.
