The idea of the project is to complete the former Olivetti complex in Ivrea with a new cultural and educational campus. The proposal continues the humanistic legacy of Adriano Olivetti by connecting work, education, culture, community life and architecture. The new auditorium becomes the main social and cultural focal point of the area.
The project consists of three main parts: the reconstruction of the former Social Services Centre, a new auditorium building and a multifunctional building. The programme includes an auditorium for 250 people, classrooms, museum spaces, coworking, workshops, temporary accommodation, wellness, a café and public outdoor spaces. The buildings are connected by terraces, exterior routes and a central sunken seating staircase.
The new buildings are based on a reinforced concrete frame structure with open and flexible layouts. The auditorium is designed as an acoustic box with timber interior cladding and steel Vierendeel trusses spanning above the hall. The façades use GFRC panels, glazed surfaces, textile shading elements and exposed concrete. Sustainability is supported by green roofs, photovoltaics, rainwater retention, natural ventilation and flexible structural systems.
