Project idea

A cultural center in the Água Branca neighborhood of São Paulo that uses the railway line as a structuring element to organize open spaces and green areas, creating a composition that integrates architecture, landscape, and public space.

Project description

Located in Água Branca, São Paulo, the project proposes a cultural center integrated with open spaces and green areas, using the railway line as the main structuring element of the urban design. The site plan follows the geometry of the urban block, creating a clear composition that seamlessly integrates architecture, landscape, and public space.

Developed in exposed concrete, the complex adopts a contemporary architectural language characterized by volumetric solidity and structural expression. Plazas, gardens, and central courtyards connect the different sectors of the project, creating a network of public spaces and areas for social interaction along the pedestrian routes. At the heart of the composition, an open-air amphitheater organizes collective activities and reinforces the civic character of the complex. Reflecting pools extend through parts of the site as compositional elements that contribute to its visual identity.

The ground floor accommodates exhibition spaces, restaurants, and public gathering areas, while the upper floors house cultural and educational facilities, including a library, music rooms, dance studios, and study spaces.

Technical information

The main auditorium is defined by an inclined, fully glazed volume framed by an interlaced structural beam system along its sides, creating a distinctive architectural landmark.
