The subject of the design is a new building of a kindergarten on the grounds of Tyršovův sad in Brno, which was be designed primarily for citizens from nearby, where a large number of new apartment complexes are being build, therefore there is expected a growth in the number of new residents and children. The school contains two classes, for 40 children in total, and provides indoor as well as outdoor activities. The design respects it's integration into the green space of the surrounding park.
The building is divided into 3 upper floors – on the first floor you walk into a spacious doorway, with a space dedicated for prams or bicycles, from where you continue to the main corridor, where there is a staircase with a lift. On this floor are also located rooms such as a staff kitchen, technical room, sanitary facilities, dressing room with staff facilities, locker room for children, with access to the main play room and outdoor playground. The main play room is connected to sanitary facilities and prep meals with a display window. The second floor is situated on the same principle, only with the difference that there is no longer a dressing room for employees, but instead there is a multi-purpose art room. The catering of the dining room on this floor is solved by a dining elevator. On the third floor is an errand terrace with seating, a green roof, sanitary facilities for children and storage for toys an small furniture.
The whole building is designed in the structural system made by a czech company located in Vizovice called KOMA MODULAR. A modular construction is created by the prefabrication of modules in production and their assembly on the construction site. It is fast, environmentally friendly and, thanks to quality control on the line, it attains a high standard of civil engineering. The complexities of modular constructions undertaken by KOMA and high demands on aesthetic quality as well as utility value of the structures require the presence of an architect in the building planning process.
