Reconstruction and modernization of a Sokol gymnasium building in the town of Slaný, preserving the cultural and sports heritage while updating the facility for contemporary use.
The project addresses the reconstruction and modernization of an existing Sokol hall (sokolovna) in Slaný. The design incorporates a distinctive red steel truss structural system visible on the facade, creating an architectural identity while serving structural purposes. The building features a multi-story volume with a gymnasium/sports hall, auxiliary spaces, and modernized facilities. The facade treatment combines rendered surfaces with contemporary window openings and the expressive red structural elements that reference the Sokol movement's identity. The program includes sports halls, changing rooms, social spaces, and supporting facilities arranged across multiple floors.
The project includes detailed construction sections showing foundation details, wall assemblies, and roof construction. Floor plans show the layout of the gymnasium at multiple levels including the main sports hall with basketball/volleyball courts, locker rooms, and ancillary spaces. Structural sections reveal the integration of the red steel truss system with the existing masonry structure. The board presents energy analysis with pie charts showing heating load distributions, thermal envelope calculations, and building physics assessments. Cross-sections demonstrate the relationship between the new additions and existing structure, including detailed connection details at various junctions.
