Revitalizing the area around the Prague Old Town Hall and Square through sensitive contemporary architecture that strengthens the historical context and public life.
The project revitalizes the area around the Prague Old Town Hall and Square through sensitive contemporary architecture that strengthens the historical context and public life. The design prioritizes permeability, sustainability, and a human-scaled urban experience, creating a seamless connection between heritage and modernity. Key design principles include respect for context, human scale and public realm, sustainability, and contemporary intervention. The building features green roofs, upper office levels, office levels, ground floor public realm, and sub-levels. The ground floor plan includes service areas, shops, public space, café, administration, terraces, and a restaurant with multiple entrance points ensuring urban permeability.
Ground floor plan at scale 1:200 shows public realm programming with dimensions of approximately 32,600mm total length. Longitudinal section at scale 1:200 shows the relationship between the historical landmark and proposed buildings with height levels from ±0.00 to +21.68. Materiality includes stone facade, green roof systems, and glass systems. Key design principles encompass adaptive reuse, permeability, green integration, and human scale.
