Project idea

PRISMA Health & Wellness Center is conceived as a transformative interior environment that responds to the growing need for mental wellness within contemporary educational settings. Situated within City University, Malaysia, the project reimagines an existing space as a restorative sanctuary that supports emotional resilience, personal reflection, and social well being.

The design concept is rooted in the idea of transformation; a journey from stress, pressure, and mental fatigue toward balance, clarity, and self-renewal. Through the integration of fluid spatial forms, sensory design strategies, and wellness oriented environments, the project creates a holistic experience that nurtures both the mind and body while enhancing the daily lives of university users.

Project description

PRISMA Health & Wellness Center is an adaptive reuse interior design project that transforms an underutilized university space into a comprehensive wellness destination. The project addresses the increasing challenges associated with academic stress, social pressure, and the lack of dedicated spaces that support psychological and emotional well being within higher education environments.

The spatial organization is designed as a sequence of immersive experiences, offering a variety of environments ranging from private wellness pods and therapeutic spaces to collaborative, creative, and community oriented zones. Each space is carefully curated to encourage relaxation, mindfulness, social interaction, and personal growth.

By integrating wellness principles into the university setting, the project aims to establish a supportive environment that enhances mental health, promotes positive social engagement, and contributes to a healthier and more balanced campus culture.

Technical information

The project adopts an adaptive reuse approach within an existing building at City University, Malaysia, maximizing the potential of the existing structure while introducing a contemporary wellness focused interior intervention. The design combines custom fabricated architectural elements, lightweight partition systems, concealed structural supports, integrated lighting strategies, and acoustic treatments to create a cohesive spatial experience.

Environmental comfort is achieved through the careful control of natural daylight, strategic artificial illumination, efficient ventilation, and user-centered spatial planning. Fluid and organic architectural forms are employed to soften the rigidity of the existing building envelope, generating a dynamic dialogue between structure and movement.

Material selection, circulation planning, privacy zoning, and sensory design considerations are integrated throughout the project to create a calming, inclusive, and psychologically supportive environment that prioritizes user well being and spatial quality.
