Project idea

Inspired by the continuous flow of the Nile, the project creates a seamless relationship between architecture, landscape, and the waterfront. The arrangement of masses preserves uninterrupted views toward the river from the main entrance, while enhancing social interaction and environmental comfort through an integrated and contemporary design approach.

Project description

The redevelopment of Nile Club in Mansoura aims to transform the existing site into a vibrant social and recreational destination that strengthens the connection between people and the Nile. The project integrates event spaces, dining facilities, sports activities, and outdoor gathering areas within a fluid spatial experience inspired by the movement of the river.

Responding to the site's natural slope, stepped waterfront terraces maximize panoramic views and encourage interaction with the landscape. Contemporary semi-double skin façades, inspired by traditional Mashrabiya patterns, enhance shading, thermal comfort, and visual permeability while preserving openness toward the waterfront. Through the integration of architecture, landscape, and public spaces, the project offers a dynamic environment that celebrates the unique identity of the Nile River.

Technical information

The Nile Club redevelopment is set on a 17,623 m² waterfront site in Mansoura, with a built-up ratio of approximately 30% (around 5,287 m²), preserving the majority of the land as open and landscaped areas that respond to the natural slope toward the Nile. The project is designed to accommodate a simultaneous capacity of 1,500–1,800 users distributed across sports facilities, dining areas, event spaces, and outdoor social terraces. Structurally, the development adopts a reinforced concrete system complemented by steel elements for long spans and shading components, with retaining strategies integrated into the stepped topography. The façade employs a semi double-skin system inspired by traditional Mashrabiya patterns, enhancing solar control, thermal comfort, and daylight filtration while maintaining visual permeability toward the river. Environmentally, the design promotes passive ventilation through façade cavities and the Nile breeze, alongside shaded landscapes and terraced open spaces that optimize microclimatic conditions and reinforce a continuous spatial relationship between architecture, landscape, and water.
