Advancing ethnic craft culture through architecture by designing a craft market addressing the Rakhain community in Kuakata.
The project is a thesis design for an ethnic craft market in Kuakata, Bangladesh, aimed at supporting and promoting the cultural heritage and craft traditions of the Rakhain community. The complex features multiple market buildings with traditional red-roofed structures, open courtyards, landscaped gathering spaces, and pathways that create a vibrant marketplace environment rooted in local architectural identity.
The design includes a campus-like arrangement of multiple buildings with pitched roofs, organised around central open spaces and flexible plazas. The site plan shows pedestrian pathways, landscaping, and structured public areas connecting various market halls and craft production spaces.
