Project idea

Kronos Museum is a timeless journey passing through three great civilizations of Egypt: Greek, Roman, and Pharaonic. The museum concept explores the convergence of these ancient civilizations in Alexandria, with each section color-coded according to the civilization it represents.

Project description

The museum is located in Kom El-Shoqafa in the Karmouz district of western Alexandria, Egypt, a historically rich area known for the catacombs. The site is at the convergence of three major civilizations: Ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman. The total area is 5500m². The museum is divided into three main zones: The Greek Zone, The Roman Zone, and The Pharaonic Zone. The interior design elements incorporate warm and focused lighting at 3500K to create a theatrical atmosphere that enhances the visitor's experience. Materials include smooth white plaster walls for a calm neutral background, classic marble floors to enhance light reflection, and wrought iron combined with synthetic elements for a sense of luxury.

Technical information

Structural Analysis: Dome type steel structure used to maintain the architectural character while preserving structural aspects. The transparent surfaces are glass with low emissivity (low-e) to manage light and heat inside the museum. Openings are fitted into the roof or dome with edges reinforced with steel supports to ensure structural stability. Wireframe Structure: The material used is Woven Stainless steel that is very strong and semi-transparent. Underground Ventilation System: A mechanical HVAC system designed to control temperature, humidity, and air quality. Circulation plan includes ground floor and underground floor plans at scale 1:100, with a section at scale 1:25.
