The proposed family house is located in the village of Oravská Jasenica, Slovakia. Due to the character of the local architecture, a decision was made to design a gable roof with a habitable attic space, in which roof windows will be installed. This solution is optimal for the village, as most residential houses feature this type of roofing.
The plot has access roads from two sides — from the north and from the south. A significant part of the site is located on a slope; therefore, the design combines the principles of the architectural concepts “Raumplan” and “Berghaus.” This approach allows for maximum efficient use of the site’s terrain and ensures high-quality natural lighting of the interior spaces.
Vehicle access to the plot is designed from both the northern and southern sides. The main entrance and garage access are located in the upper southern part of the site, where two outdoor parking spaces and one garage parking space are provided. The main entrance to the house is also located in this area.
In the lower part of the site, an additional access point and another parking space are located. A gazebo intended for relaxation is designed nearby.
The house is divided into four levels.
On the first (lowest) level, there is a spacious living zone combining the living room, dining area, and kitchen. This floor also includes a toilet and a storage room with direct access from the kitchen. From this level, two short staircases lead: one to the entrance hall of the second level, and the other to the corridor of the second level.
The second level serves as the main communication space. It contains a corridor connecting the other levels of the house via staircases. This floor also includes a garage, boiler room, gym, and bathroom. From the corridor, there is access to the garage and gym, while the gym provides access to the bathroom. The garage has direct access to the boiler room.
The third and fourth levels represent the private residential zone intended for the parents and two children.
The third level is accessed via stairs from the second floor. It contains a corridor providing access to the children’s bathroom, a playroom with an open gallery, and the parents’ zone. The parents’ zone includes a walk-in wardrobe, bathroom, bedroom, and study. Both the bedroom and the study have access to an open terrace–loggia.
From the corridor of the third level, a short staircase leads to the fourth level, where two children’s bedrooms are located.
The project presents a family house located in Oravská Jasenica. The design features a contemporary two-story residence with a combination of flat-roofed and pitched-roof volumes. The white rendered facades are complemented by dark roof cladding, creating a modern yet contextually appropriate appearance. The house is set within a landscaped garden with natural greenery.
The house will use a reinforced concrete and timber frame structural system.
