The project aims to restore and revitalize the historic former parish complex in Jablonové, Slovakia, transforming a long-unused cultural heritage site into a vibrant community, cultural, educational and spiritual center. The complex currently suffers from physical deterioration, underutilization, and the loss of its original social function. The proposed intervention seeks to preserve the architectural and historical values of the site while adapting it to contemporary community needs. By creating spaces for cultural events, workshops, education, social gatherings, and public activities, the project will strengthen local identity, support community cohesion, and ensure the long-term sustainable use of this important heritage asset.
The project consists of the comprehensive restoration and adaptive reuse of the former parish complex, including the historic parish building, courtyard, garden areas, and the remains of the former farm buildings. The main objective is to preserve the site´s cultural heritage values while introducing new functions that serve residents and visitors.
The restored parish building will accommodate multifunctional spaces for community meetings, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, cultural events, and educational activities. Interior interventions will respect the historic layout and valuable architectural elements, while ensuring modern functionality and accessibility.
The former barn area will be adapted into a flexible event venue suitable for cultural performances, conferences, celebrations, community dining, and local events. The preserved ruin structures will be presented as interpretative elements reflecting the historical development of the complex.
The outdoor areas will be revitalized through the creation of interconnected public spaces, including a courtyard, garden, winter garden, meditation garden, orchard, pergola, greenhouse, and smaller gathering areas. A new pavilion commemorating Ľudovít Štúr will be integrated into the garden as a contemporary architectural element with educational and cultural significance.
The project will create a sustainable, accessible, and multifunctional community hub that promotes social interaction, cultural development, heritage preservation, and tourism.
The project includes the restoration and adaptive reuse of the historic former parish complex. Existing masonry walls, vaults, and valuable architectural elements will be preserved and repaired where necessary. Damaged structures will be stabilized, and selected roof structures will be reconstructed.
Modern electrical, water, sewage, heating, and ventilation systems will be installed with minimal impact on the historic fabric. Outdoor areas will include paved pedestrian routes, green infrastructure, shaded gathering areas, and landscape improvements supporting biodiversity and long-term environmental sustainability. The project follows heritage conservation principles while ensuring the functionality, safety, and resilience of the restored complex for future generations.
