Project idea

Virahat – A Cultural High Rise is conceived as a response to the growing uniformity of skyscrapers in global cities. Located in GIFT City, Gujarat, the project explores how a contemporary high-rise can embody cultural identity while meeting the demands of a modern mixed-use development. Inspired by the values, social spaces, and architectural heritage of Gujarat, the project aims to create a landmark that connects culture, people, nature, and urban life. The design reimagines the high-rise as a vertical community where work, hospitality, recreation, and public interaction coexist within a culturally expressive architectural form.

Project description

The project proposes a mixed-use cultural high-rise development consisting of office spaces, a luxury hotel, public interaction zones, cultural spaces, retail facilities, sky terraces, and recreational amenities. Located on a 25-acre site in GIFT City, the development is designed to function as a landmark destination that serves professionals, visitors, and the public. The building is organized through a clear vertical zoning strategy, with public and cultural functions at the lower levels, office spaces in the middle levels, and hotel functions at the upper levels. Through the integration of interior urbanism, green terraces, and communal spaces, the project creates a dynamic and human-centered vertical environment.

Technical information

The project is designed as a high-rise mixed-use development based on an octagonal planning system to improve structural efficiency, wind performance, daylight penetration, and panoramic views. The building consists of a reinforced concrete core combined with a composite structural system suitable for tall-building construction. The form is developed through a series of fragmented and stepped volumes inspired by the gradual rise of a hill, creating terraces and sky gardens at multiple levels. The façade incorporates high-performance glazing, shading elements, and regionally inspired material finishes to enhance environmental performance and cultural expression. Sustainable design strategies include daylight optimization, green terraces, passive shading, and integrated landscape systems that contribute to user comfort and energy efficiency.
