Project idea

The project idea is to design a nursing home that supports elderly residents in maintaining their independence, dignity, and quality of life through the application of the Aging in Place concept. As the elderly population continues to grow, there is an increasing need for living environments that not only provide care but also encourage active and meaningful aging. The design focuses on creating spaces that are safe, accessible, comfortable, and supportive of the physical, emotional, and social needs of older adults. By integrating therapeutic and social spaces into the interior environment, the nursing home aims to help residents remain active, connected, and engaged in their daily lives.

Project description

This project is an interior design proposal for a nursing home developed based on the principles of Aging in Place. The design incorporates four main considerations: safety, accessibility, physical comfort, and psychological comfort. These principles are implemented throughout key areas such as the lobby and visitor area, multipurpose hall, bedrooms, bathrooms, corridors, healthcare spaces, and bonding areas.

The project seeks to create an environment that supports the daily activities of elderly residents while addressing common age-related challenges, including reduced mobility, declining physical strength, and social isolation. Interior elements such as ergonomic furniture, non-slip flooring, adequate lighting, clear circulation paths, and accessible storage systems are incorporated to enhance independence and reduce physical strain. In addition, communal spaces and therapeutic activity areas are provided to encourage social interaction, emotional well-being, and active aging. Through this approach, the nursing home functions not only as a residence but also as a supportive environment that promotes health, comfort, safety, and dignity for elderly residents.
