Project idea

A wildlife research and monitoring center within an environmentally sensitive forest reserve, exploring how architecture can function as supportive infrastructure for ecological research while maintaining minimal disturbance to the surrounding ecosystem.

Project description

This project proposes the conceptual design of a wildlife research and monitoring center within an environmentally sensitive forest reserve. The intention is to explore how architecture can function as a supportive infrastructure for ecological research while maintaining minimal disturbance to the surrounding ecosystem. The center is expected to accommodate scientific investigation, wildlife monitoring, data analysis, and knowledge dissemination within a carefully controlled spatial framework.

Technical information

The design features elevated structures connected by walkways over water, set within a natural landscape in Habarana, Sri Lanka. The buildings appear to use timber and natural materials with pitched roofs, raised on stilts to minimize ground-level impact on the ecosystem.
