Adaptation of a historic building (Pavlov City House in Kharkiv) into a contemporary cultural and arts center that combines cultural heritage with modern creative practices.
The project concept envisions the adaptation of a historic building into a contemporary cultural and arts center that combines cultural heritage with modern creative practices. The space includes exhibition halls, a lecture area, an open courtyard for events, and a café, creating a platform for hosting contemporary art exhibitions, festivals, conferences, workshops, and art markets. The interior incorporates elements of classical style, emphasizing the building's historical character while harmoniously integrating modern design solutions. Glass elements on the second floor visually expand the exhibition spaces, enhancing their sense of openness, lightness, and access to natural daylight. The center is intended to become a focal point of the city's cultural life and a place for interaction between the local community, artists, and visitors.
The project includes first and second floor plans showing the layout of exhibition halls, lecture spaces, a café, and an open courtyard. An axonometric section reveals the building’s multi-level interior organization. The design features blue textile installations, modern pendant lighting, and glass elements integrated within the building’s classical architectural shell. The site plan illustrates the relationship between the building, its surrounding urban context, and landscaped areas.
