Project idea

A museum and cultural experience center inspired by ancient Egyptian sun worship, located on an island in the Nile near the city of Giza, exploring the relationship between museum design, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and the pyramids.

Project description

ATEN is an interior design project for a museum complex situated on a Nile island near Giza. The project incorporates multiple programmatic elements including a reception and monuments expo, library and cafe, modern boats exhibition, a tomb experience space, and a theatre. The design draws from ancient Egyptian motifs and the symbolism of the sun god Aten, creating immersive interior spaces that blend historical narrative with contemporary museum design. The triangular floor plan geometry references pyramid forms, with the building organized around central exhibition spaces. The facade design incorporates elements reminiscent of ancient Egyptian architecture while using modern materials and lighting fixtures.

Technical information

The project features pile foundation systems suited for island construction. Structure analysis addresses building a steel structure on an island, requiring corrosion-resistant materials. The architectural analysis shows land use distribution with built area, pedestrian roads, green land, and desert land percentages. Floor plans are presented at 1:100 scale and sections at 1:25 scale. The design includes bubble diagrams for ground floor and first floor organization, material and color schemes, and specific lighting fixture selections. Wind analysis informed the building orientation, with predominant winds from the northwest direction.
