Project idea

A family house for a four-member family in Roztoky near Prague, designed to harmoniously blend simple modern architecture with the surrounding environment while optimally utilizing interior spaces and connecting them with the outdoor garden.

Project description

This bachelor's thesis designs a detached family house for a four-member family located in Roztoky near Prague. The design considers the disposition and needs of the family, optimizing interior space use while harmoniously connecting indoor and outdoor areas. The house is designed so that it harmoniously integrates with the surrounding neighborhood and landscape. The building has two above-ground floors with a large glazed atrium that connects the spaces with a corridor, providing light, views to the garden, and connection to outdoor spaces. The interior features an open-plan living area with kitchen and dining corner offering views to the garden. A covered terrace provides a quiet place for relaxation. The second floor contains comfortable children's rooms, the master bedroom with its own bathroom, and a shared bathroom. The building uses a flat roof with railing strips, with a facade made of exposed masonry blocks creating a practical and quality spatial solution.

Floor plans at 1:100 scale showing first and second floor layouts. Site plan at 1:2000 and architectural situation at 1:400. Building sections (Řez A-A' at 1:100), south and west elevations at 1:100. Complex wall section detail at 1:20. The program includes entrance, hallway, atrium, living room with kitchen, garage for 2 cars, storage/utility room, terrace, technical room, children's rooms, master bedroom, bathroom, study/guest room. The house is designed for a family: father 38 (lawyer), mother 35 (maternity leave), children 13 and 15.
