Project idea

A family house called 'Cliff' (Útes) situated on a rocky terrain in Libčice nad Vltavou, Prague West, designed to integrate with the natural landscape and rock formations of the site.

Project description

The project is a bachelor's thesis for a family house located in Libčice nad Vltavou in the Prague-West area. The design responds to the challenging topography of the site, incorporating natural rock outcroppings into the architectural concept. The house features a modern aesthetic with dark cladding on the lower levels contrasting with wood-clad upper volumes topped by angular pitched roofs. The concept development shows a progression from basic massing through to the final form, working with the slope and existing vegetation. The building is organized across multiple levels following the terrain, with living spaces oriented to take advantage of views. The interior features warm wood finishes and generous glazing connecting interior spaces to the surrounding landscape.

Technical information

The project includes detailed architectural sections, floor plans at 1:100 scale, site plans at 1:1000 scale, and construction details showing the roof assembly and wall sections. The structural system appears to use concrete columns supporting the upper floors, with timber-framed roof construction. The facade combines dark-toned cladding on lower portions with vertical timber battens on upper volumes. The construction detail shows layered wall and roof assemblies with insulation, vapor barriers, and ventilated facade systems. Elevations show all four sides of the building at 1:100 scale.
