Project idea

A museum of modern art located in Prague 8, Karlín, on Rohanské nábřeží, featuring a dramatic sculptural form with angular geometry and a distinctive triangulated roof structure.

Project description

The project proposes a Museum of Modern Art (MUMO) situated along the Rohanské nábřeží waterfront in Prague's Karlín district. The building features a bold, angular architectural form with a sweeping curved and faceted envelope that creates a striking landmark. The design integrates public spaces, exhibition galleries, and supporting facilities across multiple levels. The building's massing creates a dynamic relationship with the surrounding urban context, with the sculptural roof form becoming a prominent element on the riverfront skyline. The ground level appears to open up to the surrounding landscape with generous glazed facades allowing visual connections between interior exhibition spaces and the exterior public realm.

Technical information

The project includes multiple floor plans showing the organization across several levels, cross-sections revealing the complex internal spatial arrangement, and detailed construction sections. The structural system features a triangulated steel framework supporting the angular roof geometry. The plans show exhibition spaces, circulation routes, service areas, and public amenities distributed throughout the building. Site plans indicate the integration with surrounding infrastructure and landscape design including pathways and green spaces along the waterfront.
