Conversion of the historic Braník ice houses into a cultural and community center, preserving the industrial heritage while introducing new public and cultural functions for the neighborhood.
The project transforms the Braník ice houses in Prague 4 into a cultural and social center. The design respects the existing industrial architecture while introducing contemporary interventions. The proposal includes spaces for cultural events, community gatherings, and public amenities. A prominent tower element serves as a landmark. The urban analysis examines the site context within the Braník district, identifying key connections and opportunities for public space activation. The architectural study presents floor plans, sections, elevations, and detailed visualizations showing the interplay between old industrial structures and new architectural additions.
The documentation includes detailed construction drawings, floor plans at various scales (1:30, 1:100, 1:500), sections, and material specifications. The project addresses structural interventions for the conversion, including new floor systems, facade treatments, and material palettes. Detail drawings show wall assemblies, connections between existing and new structures, and waterproofing solutions. Material samples indicate the use of concrete, steel, and glass alongside preserved original masonry.
