Project idea

Analysis of the Aesop retail store's internal environment and its relationship to user behavior.

Project description

A study of the Aesop brand store interior design, examining how the internal environment influences user behavior. The project focuses on the retail space design featuring warm tones, curved architectural elements, and carefully curated product display shelving.

Technical information

The project is designed as a retail store for Aesop based on the Sensory Sanctuary concept, utilizing high-quality natural materials and sustainable finishes to enhance the user’s sensory experience. Travertine stone and exposed concrete are used for walls and key architectural elements, while natural oak wood is incorporated into shelving and fixed furniture to create warmth and authenticity within the space. The flooring consists of natural Emperador marble with a honed matte finish and high durability for main circulation areas, complemented by washed river gravel set in non-slip epoxy in selected zones to reinforce the natural character of the design. The lighting system employs concealed LED strip lighting rated at 14 W/m with a color temperature of 3000K, providing warm indirect illumination that highlights materials and products. Accessibility and ergonomic standards are integrated through clear circulation paths with a minimum width of 120 cm, non-slip flooring, and carefully designed testing and consultation areas. These specifications ensure a comfortable, safe, and immersive retail environment that reflects Aesop’s values of sustainability, simplicity, authenticity, and understated luxury.
