Vertical City Connected by Nature is a mixed-use high-rise designed as a new urban landmark for Northern Cyprus. The project combines residential, office, commercial, and public functions within a single architectural system, creating an active environment for living, working, recreation, and social interaction. Through sustainable design strategies, integrated greenery, and climate-responsive architecture, the building establishes a strong connection between people, nature, and the urban context.
The project is conceived as a vertical urban ecosystem that extends public life beyond the ground level. Located in a dense mixed-use area lacking green spaces and strong urban identity, the development aims to become a new activity center and social destination for the city. The design combines commercial functions, offices, wellness facilities, residential units, and public spaces within a clear vertical zoning strategy.
The podium activates the street through retail spaces, cafés, restaurants, and public terraces, while the office floors provide flexible work environments. Residential levels offer a variety of apartment types, creating a balanced living community. A sky-level recreational zone with a swimming pool, landscaped bridge, and panoramic viewpoints encourages social interaction and strengthens connections between different functions of the building. The project concludes with a sky restaurant overlooking the city and the Kyrenia mountain range.
Inspired by the spatial organization of Vattanac Capital Tower and the social skybridge concept of Sky Habitat, the design explores how architecture can integrate public life, nature, and contemporary urban development into a single sustainable system.
The building reaches approximately 130 meters in height with a total floor area of about 50,000 m². The structural system consists of reinforced concrete cores and columns combined with waffle slab floor construction, providing efficient load distribution, larger column-free spaces, and greater spatial flexibility. A steel-framed skybridge connects the tower volumes and accommodates recreational and landscaped functions.
The façade design responds directly to the Mediterranean climate of Northern Cyprus. Office levels are protected by a vertical green façade system positioned 1.5 meters from the building envelope, reducing solar heat gain and improving the microclimate. Residential floors feature deep balconies that provide natural shading during summer while allowing winter sunlight penetration. Additional sustainable strategies include natural ventilation, daylight optimization, landscape integration, and passive climate control measures that enhance comfort and reduce energy consumption.
