The project reimagines the main lobby of RS Premier Surabaya as a welcoming and restorative arrival experience that strengthens the hospital’s Resort Hospital identity. The redesign addresses the existing issues of unclear visitor orientation and the lack of a strong connection between the lobby environment and the hospital's hospitality-driven vision.
By combining efficient circulation, intuitive wayfinding, and hospitality-inspired spatial experiences, the project transforms the lobby into a functional orientation hub while creating a calming first impression for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
The lobby is the first point of contact between visitors and the hospital, making it a critical space for shaping user perception and supporting operational efficiency. This project redesigns the lobby of RS Premier Surabaya using the “Restorative Arrival” concept, which emphasizes hospitality, comfort, accessibility, and healing.
The design focuses on improving visitor navigation through a clearer zoning system and more intuitive circulation patterns. Key service functions such as patient registration, information counters, insurance services, cashier areas, pharmacy access, screening areas, and waiting spaces are organized to create a seamless user journey from arrival to destination.
To reinforce the Resort Hospital identity, the interior incorporates warm earth-tone color palettes, natural materials, soft lighting, and biophilic design elements that evoke the atmosphere of a resort rather than a conventional hospital. Dedicated wheelchair waiting areas, wider circulation paths, and barrier-free access ensure inclusivity and comfort for all users.
As a result, the redesigned lobby serves not only as an efficient operational hub but also as a therapeutic environment that reduces anxiety, enhances comfort, and improves the overall visitor experience.
The design uses a warm and natural color palette to create a comfortable and calming atmosphere. Soft off-white, beige, brown, and muted blue tones are applied throughout the lobby to reflect the Resort Hospital concept while helping visitors feel more relaxed and welcomed upon arrival.
The material selection focuses on both comfort and hygiene. Natural-looking materials such as wood and stone finishes are used to create a warm and hospitality-inspired environment. At the same time, antibacterial and easy-to-clean materials are applied to support cleanliness, safety, and daily hospital operations. Through the combination of these colors and materials, the lobby provides a welcoming, hygienic, and restorative environment that enhances the overall visitor experience.
