Project idea

The project is inspired by the concept of a journey of growth and self-discovery, reflecting different stages of innovation from education and experimentation to business development and market readiness, symbolizing the continuous exchange of knowledge, ideas, and opportunities.

Project description

MASAR is a Business Innovation Hub located in Marsa Matrouh, Egypt, designed to serve as a futuristic landmark at Matrouh's eastern gate. The project addresses the lack of attention to the area despite its potential, aiming to connect between craftsmen and startups, leverage direct accessibility from main roads and the airport, and proximity to Matrouh University. The facility includes workshop units, marketing venue units, co-working space units, an auditorium, administration spaces, exhibition areas, cafeteria, and various support spaces across multiple floors. The design incorporates sustainable treatments including landscape integration, minimizing noise impact, shaded nodes along paths inspired by traditional Bedouin fabric, and double glass with vertical louvers to reduce internal heat.

Technical information

The project features a ground floor plan at +17 (scale 1:250), first floor plan at +23 (scale 1:500), second floor plan at +27 (scale 1:500), and underground scale 1:500. The structure system is clearly defined with 3D sections and exploded diagrams. Materials used are natural, durable, and climate-responsive materials inspired by the local context of Marsa Matrouh. The circulation system, solid and void relationships, and 3D zoning are carefully developed. Sustainable treatments include double glass and vertical louvers to reduce internal heat.
