Project idea

Design a contemporary bath on the slope of Kaş, a holiday paradise in southwest Turkey, where users can benefit along the day and even at night, drawing influence from the thousands of years of rich history of the region including Romans and Ottomans.

Project description

Kaş is a holiday paradise on southwest Turkey whose population triples in summer with local and foreign tourists. However, there are not enough public buildings for people to enjoy this beautiful town with different activities in different times and seasons. With an influence from the thousands years old rich history of the region, it is decided to design a contemporary bath on the slope where users can benefit along the day, even night, to have quality time away from the chaotic world, as Romans and Ottomans who lived here for centuries did.

Technical information

The board presents site analysis including land cover map, topography map, building functions map, traffic map, schwarzplan (figure-ground plan), and wind/sun analysis diagrams showing prevailing wind directions from the west and sun paths from east to west. The site is located in Kaş, Antalya, Turkey with an area of approximately 2,331 m², latitude 36°, population around 10,000 in winter and 200,000 in summer.
