Project idea

A library named after Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's novella, designed to house countless stories and imaginary worlds, with an unusually shaped roof structure developed through digital soap-film simulation.

Project description

The Little Prince Library is a place designed to house countless stories and imaginary worlds. Some can be found among the rows of bookshelves, others within the vividly patterned ceiling, and a few seem to be concealed within the building's unusually shaped roof structure, as if hiding a secret of its own. The form of the outer roof was developed through a digital soap-film simulation. Internally, the ceiling is clad with a patterned surface in which reclaimed brick has been fragmented and repurposed as pigment.

Technical information

The roof form was generated through digital soap-film simulation. The ceiling features a patterned surface using reclaimed brick fragmented and repurposed as pigment. The building appears to use a timber-clad structural system with an organic, undulating roof geometry.
