Project idea

The project responds to the need to revitalize the cultural axis of Gezira by establishing the Egyptian Center for Creative Arts and Digital Media as an integrated platform where culture, creativity, and technology converge. It aims to reconnect youth and the wider community with the district through digital media, immersive experiences, and contemporary arts while strengthening the relationship between surrounding cultural institutions. The project celebrates Egyptian cultural identity through innovative technologies, supporting the creative industries, cultural tourism, and the knowledge-based economy.

Project description

The project adopts an architectural language inspired by the concept of the pixel as the fundamental unit of digital media, translating this idea into the building massing, façades, spatial organization, and landscape design. It integrates advanced technologies including immersive projection systems, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, and digital media production while implementing sustainable design strategies such as energy-efficient systems, daylight optimization, water management, high-performance building materials, and passive shading techniques. These measures support a low-carbon development approach and prepare the building to achieve future Net-Zero readiness.

Technical information

The project encompasses the development of an integrated cultural and creative hub comprising a digital museum, immersive exhibition halls, a media training center, digital production studios, specialized departments for Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality (XR), and interactive media, in addition to an events hall, public plazas, and office spaces for creative companies. The proposal also enhances urban connectivity with surrounding cultural institutions while improving the public realm through interactive landscapes and environmentally and economically sustainable design strategies.
