The project is designed in the building of a classic socialist house in Španá Dolina, which is undergoing reconstruction. It is the intersection of history and the modern world that becomes the basis of the entire design.
The inspiration comes from the exterior design - specifically from the prismatic cladding on the facade and the gable roof, which is rather atypical for this type of house. These two things became the main idea of the entire interior. The slope of the roof literally enters the interior and transforms into the structure of the library. So what you see from the outside as the shape of the roof, you see the same inside as furniture/structure.
The entire interior is built from this one intersection. The same prismatic elements are repeated everywhere as structural details for several pieces of furniture. Always the same principle, always a different function. This creates two interconnected rooms that form the heart of the house and at the same time "all" of these layers meet here.
The lower floor is social — for meetings, workshops, and informal evenings. The upper floor is private — rooms for those who stay.
The project doesn’t show how to get rid of the past. It shows how to make something out of it.
The project scope covers a two-storey family house. This project focuses on the entire ground floor and the largest room on the upper floor, presented as a representative example for the remaining rooms. The total designed area is 174.5 m².
The ground floor includes the main entrance hall, which provides access to the central living area, a home office, a home cinema, and the kitchen with an adjoining pantry. A bathroom is also located on this floor.
The upper floor features the master bedroom with an integrated relaxation area, serving as a design concept and reference for the remaining bedrooms within the house.
Total Designed Area: 174.5 m², Ground Floor + Bedroom, Colour Palette: Warm neutral tones with natural wood accents, Status: Academic Project, Year: 2026
