Project idea

This experimental memorial commemorates the people who lost their lives in the fire on January 21,2025.Its main concept is incompleteness,symbolizing both the unfinished lives of the victims and the sense of loss experienced by those left behind.Through interrupted forms and incomplete spaces,the memorial expresses grief,absence,and memories that remain unfinished.

Project description

The project is located opposite the Grand Kartal Hotel to preserve the memory of the tragedy rather than erase its traces.The memorial includes experimental spaces that encourage reflection.Since nearly half of the victims were childeren,on area displays unfinished architectural models and incomplete medical and law books,symbolizing the lives and futures that were left unfinished.The project also includes exhibiton spaces for personal belongings and educational areas focused on fire awareness and safety.

Technical information

A triangular form was chosen as the main arcitectural structure . To reflect the concept of incompleteness,the façade is designed with glass and exposed steel structural elements, emphasizing an unfinished and transparent architectural expression.
