The idea behind this project is to recuperate the relevance and architectural value of one of Madrid's most significant yet unknown buildings: The Palace of Maudes. Originally built as a Labor Hospital and many years later left abandoned, this project proposes its transformation into a luxury hotel, as it sits in one of Madrid's best neighborhoods.
A sensitive intervention is proposed, preserving all protected architectural elements, from the wooden windows, to the tiling on the walls, all original features are to be respected and valued through a dignified intervention. The project's design is extensively based on art deco and the early 20th century new styles like Art Nouveau or the Vienna Sezession, something the really characterized Antonio Palacios' works (he is the brilliant mind behind this and many other famous buildings in Madrid). Noble materials like natural stone (marble, travertine), solid wood, brass, steel and bronze, among many others, and a personalized furniture design make this project a new kind of hotel for Madrid.
High quality materials like natural stone (marble, travertine), solid wood, brass, steel and bronze, among many others, and a personalized furniture design make this project a new kind of hotel for Madrid. Many of these come directly from Spain, but some others may present a more exotic aesthetic and come from foreign countries to achieve the decadent yet elegant and luxurious hotel aesthetic.
The project also intervenes in the systems area, including solar panels, air-source heat pump technology, separative and sustainable drainage, automation and a lighting design that enhaces the existing and proposed architecture.
