Project idea

The Ricarda Hideaway is a conceptual project for a boutique hotel, or spiritual retreat at the Ricarda or Gomis residence, one of the gems of Catalan mid-century architecture. It is located south of Barcelona, close to the Prat airport.

Project description

The former home sits in a natural environment surrounded by mediterranean forest and dunes, and the protected landscape of the Ricarda lagoon, that serves as the home for many fauna and flora. This location makes the perfect spot for a spiritual retreat or somwhere to disconnect from everyday problems. The project intervenes both in the landscape (restoring pathways and making them more accessible), and in the architecture itself, with a zen interior design that creates a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Additional services for this retreat include massages, yoga studio and an outdoor salt-water pool.

Technical information

Textile materials, fabrics, wood and tough stone finishes are the main materials used inside the home, to create a sense of inner peace and connection with the surrounding environment. Warm and dim lighting, and preserved fireplace, contribute to the cozy atmosphere.
