This project starts with thinking about the format and demand of AI hubs in 2050. With reference to the concept of Web 3.0, it's likely that AI hubs will break free from the control of tech giants and become a public infrastructure in urban areas. Tung Chung, a new town under construction, offers the possibility of implementing this concept.
The project is a floating structure located on the sea between Tung Chung and Hong Kong Airport. The central area serves as an AI hub, surrounded by three zones dedicated to public services, commercial activities, and a marine ecological laboratory. A high-speed transit ring connects these three zones. Two open spaces link the islands. The bay will be filled with floating energy generators, supplying power to the AI hub and the surrounding community.
The project uses three types of floating islands. Type one is the pontoon island, which serves as the main island. It is a static platform equipped with a mooring system. Type two is the semi-submersible island, used to connect islands. It can move vertically with the sea level while remaining fixed horizontally. Type three is the free-floating island, designed for small energy generators. It can move horizontally to optimize solar energy absorption.
