A bird observation center in High Park, Toronto, designed to sit harmoniously within nature using natural materials and a grass roof resembling a rising hill.
The project is a birdwatching facility where people can go and birdwatch but also learn about birds and birdwatching. It is situated in the historic High Park of Toronto, Canada. The design seeks to create a building that sits harmoniously within nature. The natural materials such as wood used extensively on the facade prove this. The grass roof resembles a rising hill. The building breaks the mold of regular boxy buildings found in cities.
The building features extensive use of wood on the facade, a grass roof that integrates with the landscape, and curved tunnel-like entrances at ground level. The structure incorporates stairs ascending along the green roof slope.
