Project idea

Thara is a boutique desert hotel in NEOM that blends contemporary architecture with the raw beauty of the desert. The design focuses on integration rather than contrast, creating a calm and naturally connected environment.

Project description

A boutique hotel set within the mountains of NEOM offers an intimate retreat where luxury meets untouched nature. Designed to blend seamlessly with the rugged landscape, the hotel embraces sustainability, tranquility, and refined comfort. Surrounded by dramatic peaks and expansive views, it provides guests with a unique experience that connects modern living with the raw beauty of the mountains. The restaurant serves as a refined social hub, featuring smooth modern walls with subtle Atlas Mountain-inspired textures, soft diffused lighting, and elegant arches that symbolize the cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia. Guest rooms are designed as serene retreats, with clean modern walls, a single mountain-textured feature wall, and subtle arch elements that reflect traditional Saudi architecture while maintaining comfort and luxury. The reception and cashier area express the hotel's identity through natural materials, arch forms, and seamless spatial flow. A neutral palette of gray, beige, and sandy tones, combined with stone and plaster textures, enhances the cohesive and immersive experience aligned with NEOM's vision of refined, sustainable luxury.

Technical information

The boutique hotel applies sustainable development principles by combining luxury with sustainability, using local and recycled materials, and supporting the cultural and natural heritage to provide unique visitor experience. Target audience consists of adults and married couples representing approximately 70-80% of the hotel's guests. The no-children policy strengthens the hotel's positioning as a calm, exclusive destination focused on relaxation and intimacy. Case studies include La Dimora Di Metello, Corte San Pietro, Desert Rock Resort, and Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & SPA. SWOT analysis identifies outstanding natural landscape, high privacy, strong cultural heritage potential as strengths, with remote access and extreme heat as weaknesses.
