Project description

Inspired by the rhythmic vitality of the Nile River, "The Flow" is a dynamic sports complex that integrates the wave motion of water with the rejuvenating energy of athletic activity. The core concept equates sports with water, revival, and waves, merging architectural movement with the pulse of life to foster human interaction. Visually defined by parametric "wave" shells that sweep across the building masses and converge into a central plaza, the facility serves as a vibrant community hub. Beneath these undulating structures, the master plan accommodates diverse recreational and athletic zones, including a main hall, varied training facilities, a squash complex, a gymnasium, a bowling center, a video games room, and a food court.

Technical information

The stadium utilizes a complex, multi-layered structural system that combines a steel space truss with a thin shell structure. The exterior roof composition features a Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) shell combined with glass fill, seamlessly integrating skylights to provide natural ventilation and ample sunlight to the interior spaces. These engineered roof structures span vast areas, maintaining an interior clear height of 13 to 15 meters. The substantial structural loads are then safely transferred to the foundations and underlying soil through robust vertical supports, which consist of heavy shear walls measuring 80 to 100 centimeters in thickness.
