A thesis project that reclaims the cities underutilised and misused ecological land.A recreational center concept (intervention),located at Extention 18 Segoditshane ecological at Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana.
The project is to provide and accommodate for recreational activities amongst communities , ultimately enhancing the public realm and social connections between communities along Segoditshane ecological corridor.
Suspended building above ground level because the site is a floodplain . Program of spaces include ,1. Restaurant (as welcome and receiving space) 2. Health /fitness center(multifunctional space also used for indoor recreation activities) 3. Open Amphitheatre (main space used for gatherings ,performances, seminars and outdoor cinema)
I didn't find any link between concept and design. Botswana environment is dry and hot during summer days you must focus on your design its not environment friendly design. Hot and dry climate will effect your design. There must be some green spaces and water bodies to make the environment eco friendly. Mostly glass are used in design which will directly effect the indoor temperature. You can also use the solar panels instead of glass which will help you to store and utilize the solar energy.
