Airport terminal in Gostomel

Idea projektu

The theme was chosen by using the legislation basis of the order of the state government of Ukraine about the renovation of the existing airport the Kyiv-Antonov airfield in Gostomel. The prescription describes the creation of a new runway and technopark. Building plot 25 kilometers northwest of Kyiv. The airport is used by Antonov Airlines and as a flight test base. My proposal consists of the airport terminal project and master plan. The project was created by using the next sources: State Construction Standards, albums of building structures, and manuals of creating airports and master plans.

Popis projektu

The design of the terminal is based on the image of a plane taking off. The main volume is a parallelepiped with a cut-out part in the form of a hemisphere, which in the long run resembles the wings of an airplane, and its body is expressed in a volume slightly offset to the left of the center and embodied in a horizontally placed pyramid with a truncated eastward point.

Technické informace

Internal load-bearing structures of the column, inter-floor are reinforced concrete. The trusses covering with vertical and horizontal connection. The foundation is a monolithic reinforced concrete slab on a pile field. The external walls are embodied by a light transparent hinged facade - framework from perforated profiles with glass folling. The facade is fastened woth a truss to the column.

Thank you very much for participating in the INSPIRELI EDUCATION International Student Competition. We very appreciate your time and effort to produce this excellent design work. The airport is of great importance as it is the first impression that the traveler takes about the city from him knows its history of culture up to its identity, the airport has great importance where symbolism plays a big role in determining the image of the traveler about the city. The development in air traffic and travel has increased and for these reasons, the interest in the design process of airports has become very complex because it depends on the movement of passengers and equipment must be taken into account aesthetics and symbolism, in order to create a relationship between the building and its users. Architectural criticism: The direction of the biggest face of the site to the vacuum is not suitable aesthetically, but that trend is considered better for several other factors, the most important of which is the regularity of the site in that direction, which gives freedom of design and movement for a better view, but also the site in that side is considered random and irregular, which limits the ability to design and move and try to reach a certain balance in overlapping the steel and transparent part with the aim of reaching aesthetic ratios (but in my opinion did not reach those ratios and did not achieve an aspect Aesthetics, but it reaches a solid and un expressive mass. In the end you come up with a design that expresses the function of the building once you look at the building you can know that this building is for the airport and that it is the Antonov building in Justumil- Ukraine or symbolizes it.
