POSTER MUSEUM

Idea projektu

EN The poster museum is located in Bardejov on the street Krátky riadok, which is located near the historic center of the city. In its current state, there is a parking area, which is used for tourists, for people working in the center and in case of large city events. The problem, the solution of which is also this study, is the danger of crossings for pedestrians on the four-lane main road leading to Svidník and Prešov very close to the our building land. A river named Šibská voda flows next to the location, and there are bus stops for suburban bus transport on the land now. The first step in the creation of the concept was the modification of the main road and the displacement of the side road with the bridge located on the proposed plot. There is emergency parking for cars and buses next to the side road. The next step was to create an underpass under the main road. At both ends of the underpass, there are opposite bus stops with elevators and stairs that serve the underpass. In the northern half of the plot, a two-story parking garage was built in the shape of a quarter circle, of which one floor is underground and one is above ground. This parking garage serves the gallery, but it can also serve as a replacement for the original parking lot for tourists. In the second half of the semi-circle, there is the space of the gallery itself, which also extends above the garages. The basis of the gallery space is an inner tube with ramps, which is a reference to the tube used as protection for postre and large-format printed materials. Inside the tube there are smaller gathering spaces such as a lecture hall over two floors, a cinema room and a digital room. The ramps connect the entire gallery and form the building's main vertical communication, which is barrier-free. Inserted rings are connected to the ramp, which form the exhibition space itself. Together with the ramp, they create a figure resembling rolled paper in the floor plan. A green roof is created on the very top of the building, which is freely accessible to the public, and on which there is a restaurant.

Popis projektu

SK Celková prevádzka budovy je tvorená troma základnými scenármi. Scenár pohybu návštevníkov, ktorý si kúpia lístok do múzea, scénar neplatiacich návštevníkov pochôdznej strechy s reštauráciou a scénar pohybu návštevníkov, ktorý využívjú iba garáž. EN The overall operation of the building consists of three basic scenarios. A scenario of the movement of visitors who buy a ticket to the museum, a scenario of non-paying visitors of the pedestrian roof with a restaurant and a scenario of the movement of visitors who only use the garage.

EN The supporting structure of the museum is an inner reinforced concrete tube with ramps and a skeleton system. The facade of the building is made up of a light transprent outer shell. There are custom-shaped panels on the light transparent outer shell, which create a visual of the so-called "paper architecture". The panels also serve as shading for museum exhibition spaces that need it. The museum uses Quuppa (for internal positioning) as a means of controlling the movement of visitors. A visitor who buys a ticket receives a chip with which he moves around the museum. In the museum, mainly at the entrance to individual rooms, there are checkpoints equipped with a chip sensor, which gives a signal when movement is detected without the presence of an access chip.

POSTER MUSEUM

Poster Museum – Bardejov, Slovakia The Poster Museum in Bardejov reimagines a disused parking lot near the historic center as a cultural catalyst, addressing urban challenges like Pedestrian safety via an underpass beneath a busy four-lane road, Multi-functional programming (museum, public rooftop, parking garage). And finally Symbolic architecture inspired by the "rolled paper" of posters. A visionary blend of urban repair, cultural symbolism, and tech integration** that could redefine Bardejov’s public realm. The project has un Urban & Social Impact by using Infrastructure as Placemaking which appeared in the relocated side road/bridge and underpass with elevators to solve critical connectivity issues while creating a new pedestrian-friendly node. Also the Bus stop integration ensures equitable access for suburban visitors. The project has threefold User Strategy through many categories: Paying visitors experience a curated journey through ramped exhibition "rings." Non-paying visitors enjoy the green roof/restaurant, fostering inclusivity. Garage users benefit from replaced tourist parking, with one floor underground to reduce visual impact. Regarding Architectural Innovation reflected in Structure it used Reinforced concrete core + ramp system** provides stability and barrier-free circulation. Otherwise, the Lightweight transparent facade with custom shading panels evokes "paper architecture" while functionally protecting exhibits. In addition, the Smart Systems, Quuppa chip-tracking enhances security (e.g., sensor alerts for unauthorized access) and could enable personalized visitor experiences (e.g., AR content). Regarding Sustainability & Context, the Green roof mitigates urban heat, manages stormwater, and offers public space. The Riverfront engagement (though further development is needed—see feedback). I have some recommendations as follows: - Facade Performance: - Thermal bridging** at concrete-shell junctions could cause condensation. Recommend: Thermally broken mullions or double-skin sections. - Panel maintenance: Ensure modularity for cleaning/replacement. User Experience Gaps - Scenario Overlaps: - Rooftop vs. garage crowds during events may cause bottlenecks. Suggest: Time-based access rules or separate elevators. - Restaurant logistics (deliveries, waste) need dedicated service routes. - Wayfinding: - The public rooftop entrance should be distinct from the museum ticket area (e.g., bold signage, landscaped path). - Technological Refinements - Materiality & Context: - Blend the futuristic shell with local materials (e.g., timber accents) to harmonize with Bardejov’s historic fabric. - Enhance riverfront connectivity with pathways or terraces. Finally, this project doesn’t just house posters—it becomes one: layered, communicative, and unforgettable. With final engineering rigor, it could set a global benchmark for community-focused museums.
