The new port of Beirut

Idea projektu

The new vision of the port will set the vector of sustainable development within the existing one, due to optimization and a rational eco-friendly approach, an increase in the port area will not be required in the coming years.

Popis projektu

On the border of the port territory and the Karantina district, I propose to set up a park that will become a green barrier between the industrial territory of the port and the new residential development. A city with dense buildings has few recreational areas. There will be landscaping inside the territories of public areas. New districts should become new business centers and centers that attract new residents, developers, and investors. The land around the port will be a tasty morsel. new parks and a green framework created on the border of the port and other adjacent areas will protect the districts from the noise of the port. The shape of the breakwater will be changed for the passage of cruise ships to the passenger terminal. The territory of the port remains closed, so a pedestrian hub is laid on top of the memorial complex. The monorail is laid to improve logistics inside the port.

Technické informace

The new vision of the port will set the vector of sustainable development within the existing one, due to optimization and a rational eco-friendly approach, an increase in the port area will not be required in the coming years. The port space is multi-level, each level represents a certain degree of danger or difficulty of transportation. The design of the floors allows you to fill the spaces due to the modularity of the structural plate.

The new port of Beirut

This project presents a bold and visionary rethinking of the Port of Beirut, emphasizing sustainable optimization within the existing boundaries rather than expansion. The proposal’s layered organizational strategy, separating functions vertically based on risk and logistics, demonstrates intelligent space management and operational foresight. The introduction of green buffers, urban parks, and a memorial complex along the port’s edge reflects a sensitive response to the site’s industrial character and the city's recreational needs. Moreover, the integration of a monorail system enhances internal mobility, promoting logistical efficiency with minimal environmental impact. While the concept is strong, further refinement of the urban interface, especially between public and restricted port areas, could strengthen the project's social inclusivity. Overall, this design offers a sophisticated and future-oriented model for resilient and sustainable port-city relationships.
