Idea projektu
The hotel, located in Santa Caterina Dello Ionio, Calabria, is designed to blend seamlessly with its picturesque surroundings, positioned between the seashore and rolling hills. Its strategic location near an expressway and a gas station makes it easily accessible for travelers. The building offers a diverse selection of rooms, complemented by a restaurant in the south wing and a spa area on the opposite side. A swimming pool integrated with the relaxation zone further enhances the guest experience. Inspired by the work of Pritzker Prize-winning architect David Chipperfield, the design embraces minimalism and timeless elegance, using refined materials to create a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. Thanks to its prime location, the hotel has the potential to become a key destination for visitors, enriching the touristic appeal of the region.
Popis projektu
The body of the building refers to the local development, which is characterized by high fragmentation and ubiquitous height differences. Hence the numerous cuts and offsets in the building. The entrance area, located on the eastern side of the establishment, has been moved forward, encouraging passersby to visit, creating a canopy for guests, and also facilitating a direct driveway. Part of the restaurant was moved back inside the block, creating an arcade characteristic of Italian buildings, allowing the restaurant to be used outside and giving the interior a little more shade.
Technické informace
The hotel's structure is made of reinforced concrete, ensuring durability and stability while allowing for the dynamic form with numerous cuts and offsets. The flat roof is designed as a green roof, enhancing thermal insulation and integrating the building with its natural surroundings. The facade is covered with plaster and stone panels suitable for the Italian climate, providing protection against high temperatures and humidity while maintaining a timeless, elegant appearance.
