The design uses passive cooling, natural ventilation, and strategic orientation to reduce heat and maximize comfort. Outdoor areas were treated as essential learning spaces, blending indoor and outdoor functions to enhance both education and sustainability.
The most striking feature of this educational project is its effective incorporation of courtyards, shaded walkways, and domes to optimize the learning environment along the lines of the local architecture of the region. The success lies in the way the project has combined outdoor classrooms, palm-filled courtyards, as well as transition arcades, to blur the lines between the indoor and outdoor learning environment, thus stressing that education is a process that involves not only indoor learning but also has to be a part of the larger societal interactions.
Nevertheless, in placing such emphasis on formal and cultural references, there is a downside to this. This is in the manner by which they repeat similar elements in terms of arches, courtyards, and circulation. This may develop a sense of monotony within the space, particularly at the educational level. Although its overall ambience remains pleasing, more distinctive separation between educational spaces, by virtue of age group or educational functionality, may improve its orientation and educational functionality.
