JAXTAPOSE

Idea projektu

The project proposes a contemporary aquatic center located in Ain Sokhna, Egypt, on a 65,000 m² site along the Red Sea. The main goal is to create a timeless architectural experience by integrating parametric design principles with the fluid nature of water, while providing recreational, residential, and family-oriented spaces. The design celebrates the movement of waves, both metaphorically and formally, by allowing the building’s pixelated façade to flow with dynamic curves representing the sea and its natural rhythm.

Popis projektu

The project is divided into three main zones, each with a distinct character and function:\ Residential & Leisure Zone Includes chalets, a hotel, swimming pools, and a private landscaped area. Offers a quiet retreat, separated from the more active zones. Main Plaza & Adventure Zone Hosts the main aquatic park (Aqua Park). Includes key attractions like the zipline, a central landmark feature, and extensive green spaces. Acts as the project’s vibrant hub for visitors. Family & Social Zone Contains the food court, restaurants, and kids' area. Designed to support family-friendly interaction and relaxation. Landscape design ties the entire project together, with a main lower pathway connecting the zones horizontally across the site, and an upper circulation path linking the main buildings.

JAXTAPOSE

The project presents a compelling vision for a contemporary aquatic center that harmoniously blends architectural innovation with the natural context of Ain Sokhna’s Red Sea coastline. The use of parametric design to mimic the fluidity and rhythm of water is well thought out and gives the façade a dynamic, engaging character. Organizing the program into three distinct zones—residential, adventure, and family/social—demonstrates a strong understanding of diverse user needs and spatial hierarchy. The thoughtful landscape design and dual-level circulation enhance connectivity and encourage exploration throughout the large site. To further develop the project, it would be beneficial to provide more detailed plans or diagrams showing how the below-grade and rooftop circulation paths work in practice, especially regarding accessibility and wayfinding. Additional information on how sustainability strategies—like passive shading and natural ventilation—are integrated into the architectural elements would also strengthen the design’s environmental performance narrative. Finally, exploring materiality and structural solutions that respond to the coastal climate could deepen the project’s technical and contextual relevance. Overall, this design balances creativity and functionality, offering a promising blueprint for a vibrant and sustainable aquatic center.

Here are some reference projects that align with your aquatic center’s themes of parametric design, fluid architecture, and sustainable coastal development: The Wave, Vejle, Denmark — A residential project featuring undulating, wave-like façades designed with parametric tools, integrating natural forms into urban living. AquaDom & SEA LIFE Berlin — An aquarium and aquatic experience center with innovative spatial organization and strong thematic connection to water. Heydar Aliyev Center, Baku, Azerbaijan (Zaha Hadid Architects) — Known for its fluid, curvilinear forms created through parametric design, reflecting organic natural shapes. Beijing National Aquatics Center ("Water Cube") — A landmark aquatic facility with a distinctive geometric façade inspired by natural water bubbles and sustainable design principles. Morpheus Hotel, Macau (Zaha Hadid Architects) — Showcases complex parametric geometry and innovative structure that could inspire dynamic architectural expression. Red Sea Project, Saudi Arabia — A large-scale sustainable coastal development emphasizing environmental sensitivity, mixed-use zones, and integration with natural surroundings. These projects can offer inspiration on form-making, zoning strategies, sustainability approaches, and user experience relevant to your design.
