The project sensitively engages with the industrial heritage of the Bulovna complex and offers a well-thought-out transformation of the historic building into a contemporary museum. I particularly appreciate the effort to preserve the original architecture as the primary bearer of the site’s identity and to complement it with new layers that expand its use and introduce new spatial qualities. A strong point of the design is the clearly defined concept of contrast between historic and contemporary architecture. The new inserted volumes appear self-assured while still respecting the building’s original structural framework. This creates an interesting dialogue between the past and the present, which is highly appropriate for a museum institution.I also view the building’s functional layout positively. The combination of exhibition spaces, a multipurpose hall, a restaurant, and viewing areas creates the conditions for year-round use and makes it possible to attract a wide range of visitors. The design thus comes across not merely as a museum, but as a vibrant cultural center with the potential to become a significant landmark in the city. For the project’s further development, I would recommend elaborating in greater detail on the visitor experience and the way in which visitors navigate through the individual historical and newly incorporated spaces. It would also be interesting to place greater emphasis on the specific history of hop-growing and the building’s original function directly within the architectural concept, so that the connection between the museum’s new function and the site’s history is even stronger.Overall, this is a very well-executed design that sensitively combines the preservation of industrial heritage with the contemporary requirements of a cultural institution, creating a solid foundation for the development of an attractive museum complex.
