Work description

Ghent University (UGent) has recently finalized its future vision 'UGent Imagines 2050'. This vision provides the university with a compass to sustainably develop its future patrimony and campuses. As part of 'UGent Imagines 2050', masterplans or campusplans are currently being developed to give shape to the ambitions outlined in the structural vision. These campusplans follow a specific methodology and consistently address five themes. These themes also align with UGent’s existing policy visions on integrated water management, biodiversity, energy, and mobility (corporate transport plan). The spatial themes explored in the campus plans are:- People: focus on human-centered planning, improving quality of places, enhancing wayfinding and addressing, defining campus identity, etc.- Mobility: developing sustainable mobility, facilitating parking solutions, connecting to higher-level networks, etc.- Buildings: exploring development zones, design research into building heights and occupancy rates, introducing circular construction.- Networks: mapping underground infrastructure, shaping water management, streamlining data networks, etc.- Biodiversity: establishing valuations, creating zones for green development, safeguarding space for forest compensation, etc.The preparation and/or coordination of these campus plans is currently led by the Master Planning Policy Officer, employed by the Directorate of Campus and Building (C&G)The Master Planning Assistant supports the development of campus plans and is guided and supervised by the Master Planning Policy Officer. Your responsibilities include:- Co-designing schematic spatial concepts;- Digitally drawing and developing thematic concepts;- (3D) design research;- Preparing spatial accounting (e.g. de-paving balance, estimating gross floor areas of new developments, etc.);For more information regarding the job content, you can contact Tristan Verleyen – Master Planning Policy Officer via Tristan.Verleyen@UGent.be
