The concept that I adopted in the design of the terminal building, the wing form, which is the most important organ required to perform the flight action, has been abstracted.
While designing my space cage top cover, I modeled it to make my form clear and to benefit from natural lighting by letting the natural light beams into the terminal building at a horizontal angle. At the same time, I designed curves in the apron part of the terminal building in order to be able to perceive the wing form in appearances. In front of him, I developed a car park top cover model that would almost complete the design and create a whole with its surroundings. Using the occupancy-space design principle, I created a contrast with the terminal building.
Within the scope of the project, Van Airport New Terminal Building, which has a closed area of 65,000 m2, has a capacity of 4,000 passengers per hour. There are 8 passenger bridge boarding gates, 5 of which are for domestic lines and 3 for international lines, in the terminal building of 65,000 m2. The 3.5-floor terminal building has 1 basement, 1 outgoing floor, 1 incoming floor, and 0.5 mezzanine floor.
Hello Nurcan,
First, I appreciate the audacity of your project. It is always refreshing to read about ideas that seek out innovation. It is really cool to see how you introduce active surfaces according to the functional needs of the terminal. Following, I address some points that you can try to apply in your project:
1. Landscape and Interior Design. You may try to continue the outdoors vegetation in the interior design as well. Creating paths surrounded by gardens will create a unique experience for the user. Also, by applying these techniques, you can introduce different environments for resting and commercial purposes.
2. Sustainable Design. Due to the nature of your surfaces, you may explore the possibility of including renewable resources to obtain energy. Also, the water usage and flow represents a good opportunity to create interior landscapes.
3. Structural Elements. You are creating a big statement with the shelf, so introducing structural elements as a continuation of the shape will help unify your projects' language.
Finally, I encourage you on designing and using all the creativity you have. It is through crazy ideas that we will shape the future of architecture. Expand your ideas into the interior design as well. It will be awesome to see the effect of sunlight and shadows on every area of the terminal. I hope my comments can help you. Feel free of contacting me if there's anything more I can do for you.
