This offer is from the Department of Biotechnology, and the intern's field of research would be Molecular Cloning, Phytochemical Analysis, and Immunological Applications for Therapeutic Development.

Work description

Biotechnology Internship: Molecular Cloning, Phytochemical Analysis, and Immunological ApplicationsOverview:This internship provides hands-on training in molecular cloning, phytochemistry, and immunology with applications in vaccine and therapeutic development. Viral genes from Japanese Encephalitis Virus, SARS-CoV-2, and Rabies Virus will be cloned, expressed, and analyzed. Phytochemicals from local plants will be extracted by Soxhlation, screened for antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, and tested for toxicity using Artemia assays. Immunomodulatory effects of plant extracts will be studied in fish (Tilapia) through antigen challenges and immunoassays. Additionally, chickens will be immunized with selected antigens to generate cost-effective antibodies in egg yolk.Objectives:1)Clone viral genes and evaluate expressed proteins for therapeutic potential.2)Extract, characterize, and test phytochemicals for antioxidant and antimicrobial activity.3)Assess immunological effects using *Artemia*, fish, and chicken models.Outcomes:1)Acquire skills in molecular cloning, protein purification, and analysis.2)Gain experience in phytochemical extraction and bioactivity testing.3)Contribute to low-cost therapeutic and diagnostic development.Intern's Responsibilities:1)Perform cloning, expression, and protein assays.2)Conduct phytochemical extractions and toxicity tests.3)Carry out immunological experiments in fish and chickens.
